Dementia Research Showcase 2018
November 28, 2018
On 28 November, you are invited to join the “Dementia Research Showcase 2018” in Edinburgh (UK). The talks will tackle important questions relating to dementia and highlight dementia research taking place locally and nationally.
In the first session you will hear from people working at organisations and charities involved in facilitating and supporting dementia research. The speakers will introduce dementia, highlight why research is important, and discuss how their organisations facilitate dementia research. We are glad that our epadista Sarah Gregory will give a talk on the EPAD project.
The second session will comprise a selection of talks from Heriot-Watt University Memory Lab researchers and collaborators who are working on dementia research projects. These talks will highlight research aiming to develop new methods of detecting the onset of dementia and tracking its progression by using measures of behavior and brain activity.
In the final session you will hear a series of talks from dementia researchers based in the Edinburgh area and beyond. These talks will explore the effect of dementia on motivation, how we can provide safe and supportive environments for people with dementia, and how attitudes and policy can be amended to support people with dementia to live rich, independent lives.
The event is free to attend and open to anyone interested in learning about dementia research, but places are limited and must be booked in advance.
