{"id":3158,"date":"2019-04-30T12:04:48","date_gmt":"2019-04-30T10:04:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/alzheimer.noemi.lu\/?p=3158"},"modified":"2019-04-30T12:04:48","modified_gmt":"2019-04-30T10:04:48","slug":"epad-supported-the-first-workshop-on-disease-progression-modelling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ep-ad.org\/index.php\/2019\/04\/30\/epad-supported-the-first-workshop-on-disease-progression-modelling\/","title":{"rendered":"Workshop on disease progression modelling held in Bonn"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The mathematical modelling of disease progression is an essential part of several projects of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imi.europa.eu\/news-events\/events\/imi-projects-communication-event\">Innovative Medicine Initiative<\/a> (IMI), namely <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aetionomy.eu\/\">AETIONOMY<\/a>, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/alzheimer.noemi.lu\/\" target=\"_blank\">EPAD<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.radar-ad.org\/\">RADAR-AD<\/a>; and it is subject of an entire work package in the European H2020 project <a href=\"https:\/\/cordis.europa.eu\/project\/rcn\/219020\/factsheet\/en\">VirtualBrainCloud<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The joint interest in mathematical modelling of disease progression prompted us to come together for a first workshop on disease progression modelling. At the invitation of Martin Hofmann-Apitius of the Fraunhofer Institute for Algorithms and Scientific Computing (SCAI), leading scientists in the field met for two days in Bonn (Germany) on 4 and 5 April to exchange ideas and to report on their strategies for modelling disease progression in neurodegenerative diseases and psychiatric conditions. It was a great experience and a very productive workshop. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are pleased that the website about disease progression models is now online. It contains videos and presentations of the first disease progression modelling workshop that took place in Bonn.
