{"id":4744,"date":"2020-09-10T15:31:21","date_gmt":"2020-09-10T13:31:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/alzheimer.noemi.lu\/?p=4744"},"modified":"2020-09-10T15:31:21","modified_gmt":"2020-09-10T13:31:21","slug":"new-erc-starting-grant-to-identify-age-related-human-blood-factors-as-a-therapeutic-target-for-alzheimers-disease","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ep-ad.org\/index.php\/2020\/09\/10\/new-erc-starting-grant-to-identify-age-related-human-blood-factors-as-a-therapeutic-target-for-alzheimers-disease\/","title":{"rendered":"New ERC starting grant to identify age-related human blood factors as a therapeutic target for Alzheimer\u2019s disease"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/erc.europa.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">European Research Council<\/a> has awarded an Early Career Research (ERC) starting grant to the neurologist Marc Su\u00e1rez-Calvet, MD, PhD, who will use<strong> data from the EPAD Longitudinal Cohort<\/strong> <strong>Study<\/strong> for his new project entitled \u201cIdentification of age-related Human Blood factors as a therapeutic target for Alzheimer\u2019s disease\u201d (acronym: HeBe).<\/p>\n<p>The overall aim of the project, named after the Ancient Greek goddess of eternal youth, is to <strong>discover blood factors with a rejuvenating or ageing effect on the human brain that could become therapeutic targets for Alzheimer\u2019s disease<\/strong> and other age-related brain diseases.<\/p>\n<p>Marc Su\u00e1rez-Calvet will define extreme biological age phenotypes in participants of the Alfa + study, conducted at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.barcelonabeta.org\/en\">Barcelona\u03b2eta Brain Research Center<\/a> (BBRC), based on the difference between biological and chronological age.
