Our samples can be requested for use in Alzheimer’s prevention research.
We will support you through every stage of the application process. Contact our principal investigator Jean Manson jean.manson@roslin.ed.ac.uk for an initial informal discussion about the scope of your research and the range of samples that we can offer.
“We aim to ensure that this precious collection of samples is put to the very best use towards the prevention of Alzheimer’s dementia.”
Curated by our dedicated bioresource team at the Roslin Institute within the University of Edinburgh.
Our samples include blood, CSF, saliva, and urine collected in a unique longitudinal study of participants spanning four years.
We use a bespoke database and information management system that provides traceability and sample validation at every stage in the process. We will provide you with support at every level, from your initial enquiry through to detailed discussions with our expert team.
We aim to meet your unique research needs and organise sample delivery direct to your research facility.
We aim to ensure that every sample collected from our participants and stored at the Bioresource can contribute in the most appropriate way to progressing research in Alzheimer’s disease prevention.
We invite you to submit an online request via the Alzheimer’s Disease Workbench of the Alzheimer’s Disease Data Initiative (ADDI).
The request will be reviewed by the international experts in the field of dementia on the EPAD Sample Access committee. The committee will conduct a scientific review of each proposed study and consider:
• the extent to which the project will progress research in Alzheimer’s disease prevention
• the research team’s expertise, experience, and training
• the extent to which the research is novel and innovative
• the general approach, including whether the research strategy is well-reasoned
Following the review process, we will set up a further meeting to discuss the review and the next steps.
You can download a PDF with instructions on how to submit a Sample Access request via the ADDI platform here.
